Under section 1915(c) Home & Community-Based Waivers, states can help subsidize the cost of assisted living for individuals on Medicaid and in need of long-term care or adult day health care. In the state of Indiana, there are two types of waivers: Aged and Disabled (A&D) Waiver and the Traumatic Brain Injury (TBI) Wavier. More details can be found on the official Indiana government website.
Along with Medicaid waivers, there is another Medicaid program called CHOICE that is available for through Indiana’s Family and Social Services Administration (FSSA) that supports individuals who are at least 60 years old or have a disability that may be at risk of losing their independence. CHOICE stands for Community and Home Options to Institutional Care for the Elderly and Disabled.
